Cricket... Leather on Willow

The exact origins of cricket are somewhat scarce with theories that shepherds were the first to participate in bat and ball games whilst tending to their sheep.

We do know that cricket has been played in North London for over 300 years with references in the Daily Advertiser of 31st August 1752 announcing that a match was due to be played on that day in what is now Regents Park, between the Marylebone Club and all of London. The prize was to be a guinea a man.
